Can't wait to see ( and i mean this seriously) who they bring this year ..

I'll Definately be watching this thread as things become available. And will add if I find any info out..

Hard to believe its been 4 years since this series started..

Has gone by so quick it seems..

Anonymous said...

Just guesses ... no back-up but I would see one "big" name here. Rumors are that ZZ Top,Lynard Synard is headed for Art Park this year so count them out. My money is in Heart.

Anonymous said...

Cheap Trick is going to Artpark, doubt we will see ZZTop there, he Artpark budget like everything state funded will take a big hit so I think most of the free lineup will be downgraded.

Would hope Rusted Root opens, they are a jam band and every show is different. OLP pretty much played the same set two years in a row and I am not sure if they are touring this year.

April Wine, Loverboy, good Canadian choices. Huey Lewis and the News are touring this summer, they are amazing live. Maybe Styx, if not then I bet Dennis DeYoung would play the series ( he played a free show in Rochester last year).

An Reo return would work, Duran Duran is touring but I think they can still sell tickets.

JustinBassofKC said...

What are the chances of local bands being openers? Anyone have any clues or insights? Maybe contact information to someone in the booking field?

Anonymous said...

Bring back Big Sugar, best band that has played here!

Anonymous said...

here would be a list from me with some talented folks from New Jershey and some regulars.

1. Styx
2. Dennis DeYoung
3. REO
4. ELO - The Orchestra
5. Glen Burtnik & Friends - former Styx lead / bass
6. Steve Augeri - former lead for Journey
7. The Guess Who
8. Always bring Rik back

just to throw out a couple people.

Xavier said...

I like Justin's idea. It would bring their fans and families who'd stay for the headliner. Only problem might be the Musician's Union. Then forget it.

I hope the kids who work for the city doing clean up and stuff would be watched more carefully. They get druynk before it starts and cause they're wearing their city t-shirts it doesn't make us look to good.

No matter who plays it is always a great time, under the stars, on a hot summer night, and a ICE COLD MOLSON in your hand!!!!

Cheap Trick July 22? I have heard them kicked around and they are in Ontario the following night.

I would love to see The Tea Party or Headstones come in from Canada. How about Blue Oyster Cult?

nicole said...

PLEASE BRING MARIANAS TRENCH in 2011!! after all they are canadian lol who better to have at the molson canadian concert series! :-D

B.G. of Lockport said...

I do not know how to contact the promoter of the Molson Canal Concert series....but I have a few suggestions before all the bands are booked up again and we end up with Rusted Root and O.L.P for a third straight year....all should be possible...and most are on Tour..as follows..Huey Lewis and the News...38special...Asia...Foghat...Styx...America....ZZ-Top...just suggestions...but all would be great to see and fall in the viability of Lockports concert series....

Anonymous said...

How about FURTHUR!!! They will truck up to lockport. Melanie would be another good one to bring. She has a brand new pair of roller skates!. Bring Kenny Wayne Shepphard back also!!

Anonymous said...

Rusted Root has to open! Now it's tradition. I wouldn't mind some new bands but Big Sugar rocked that venue!

Anonymous said...

No repeats! bring someone new I agree with Nicole let's have marianas trench !

Comment above deleted for making it personal. She is the promoter. Why should be not expect her to make the decisions? We see how successful NT was after her promotion left. Leave this to the bands please as stated in the post.

Xavier said...

Okay

Anonymous said...

Agreed! Credit should go where credit is due, everyone involved including promoter and the staff, police, gov't etc. should be appreciated for all they have done. Lockport has a wonderful concert series and now NT is realizing what they had.

Anonymous said...

The promoter, police, staff, etc. shouldn't be congratulated - they are all getting paid very well by us taxpayers to do their job entertaining the adults.

PS - If you delete this please delete the one giving credit to them, plus your own editorializing how good she does compared to NT.

Anonymous said...

So because people get paid they shouldn't be recognized for a job well done? Looks like somebody has a chip on their shoulder.

Anonymous said...

How about Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) or bring in another English export ala the Cult and Tears for Fears from the past couple of years..my choice would be Richard Ashcroft (The Verve). Need a good Metal/Hard Rock show (Cinderella would be awesome) and a Good Country Show too (Randy Houser or Lee Brice or both).

Anonymous said...

More ideas: How about Guster, Hoobastank, Jethro Tull, Zac Brown Band, or Great Big Sea?

MJ said...

Yes, because at work none of us desire to be told "good job" because we are getting paid. Seriously?

And where did I say how good she was? All I said was that NT has had problems and it's not easy to just up and create/operate one of these things. Look through old posts linking to news articles with NT councilmen etc stating such. No editorializing here. But even if there was, its a blog.

All I am asking is that this one post be kept to the lineup etc. It's appearing to possibly be a difficult task. There are enough posts on the "merits" of the series and any (or lack of)ROI.

Anonymous said...

I'm a die hard OLP fan and for the last 2 years I haven't been able to see them because I've been out of town. Well this year I will be home and need my OLP fix!!!! It's pretty much the only concert I look forward to each year. Bring em back!!! They always draw a big crowd.

Anonymous said...

Unoffical 2011 Molson Canal Concert Lineup: 6/24 Our Lady Peace 7/1 Alice In Chains 7/8 Tragically Hip 7/15 Blue Oyster Cult 7/22 Faith No More 7/29 Insane Clown Posse 8/5 Stone Temple Pilots 8/12 Godsmack 8/19 Goo Goo Dolls they get to close the series since there from Buffalo!

Anonymous said...

Unlikely OLP will be here, they are in the studio and toured for almost a year straight last year. I am crossing my fingers for Huey Lewis and Loverboy

Anonymous said...

INSANE CLOWN POSSE WOULD BE SICK TO SEE. LOCKPORT WOULD LOVE IT!!! There are soo many juggalo's and letts in LP. DO IT

Anonymous said...

That lineup would never happen, if anything goo would end thurs at the square not lockport. And icp would be sick but that will never happen

Anonymous said...

Melanie would be a good addition to the lineup. I will bring my brand new pair of rollerskates. Also bring Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. We need some more acoustic tunes.

Anonymous said...

MARIANAS TRENCH!! They are canadian! they fit right into the molson CANADIAN concert series PLUS they will bring lots of our over-the-border canadian friends to buy food/drink and help support the series PLUS they just have catchy songs... check them out and u will agree i especially reccomend listening to "celebrity status" and "Cross my heart" :-D

Well we can cross of America as a possible band....they signed to play at the Erie County Fair Grounds...and to anonymous from 3/5...that is not an unoffical list....that is a wish list...I would love to see most of those bands to...but not a chance..

Anonymous said...

FYI Justin and Xavier, the series ALWAYS has local, or at least locally-connected, bands open for headliners, it's part of the contract for the series and is a great rider.

Anonymous said...

Cheap Trick has been everywhere from Austin City Limits to Vegas performing the "Dream Police" album to new DVD release of "Sergeant Peppers" and the new album release of "The Latest." They're hot and on a roll. Let's get them here.

Anonymous said...

how about Judas Priest!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

It's a hunch but July 1st will be REO, they are in Michigan 7/02/11 so its fits the schedule.

Anonymous said...

A couple more bands that should be taken into consideration for this should be

Green River Ordinance
and
Atomic Tom

Both are great bands and I could see them both realistically playing and drawing a large crowd.

JustinBassofKC said...

Anonymous 3/7... My buddies band is going to play there this year on the 29th of July. Colors in the Air, which is straight from Lockport. I graduated with the drummer. Just sucks cause I am thinking as far as the Local scene, they are probably the only one from Lockport that is going to get a fair chance. They are more of an Indie band and they have great ties with Taboo. I am thinking as far as my band, Kennedy Carpool, will never get a fair chance to play. I have emailed David a couple of times for the show but I get the feeling that his common responses of "Email me next month" are just a way of giving a small amount of hope but nothing will ever come about from it. I hope I am wrong, we have a ton to offer. We are booking the Palace Theater on main st up the road already to showcase the Harder sound of Lockport. No offense to the guys in CITA but Lockport does have more to offer.

I would like to see new bands. Enough with Rusted Root & OLP!!! I heard Pat Benatar. That would be sweet!

Anonymous said...

Marinas Trench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

July 8 could be for Pat Benatar

Anonymous said...

Melanie should lace up her brand new pair of roller skates and roller skate right to lockport. She will outsing that "Marianas Trench" anyday. They don't know what music is

Anonymous said...

Pat Benatar at Artpark July 5

Anonymous said...

When is the official announcement of this year's line-up? April? May?

Anonymous said...

Ok...Benatar is listed at Artpark on July 5 so now I am going to guess Huey Lewis and the News for July 8. They are at Casino Rama on the 9th.

Anonymous said...

This is the longest ever..... not to have a clue as to who might be playing in Lockport this summer....so much for marketing ahead of time...why can't you let people know when you sign someone so plans can be made...people do go on vacation in the summer...I hope the silence is worth it.....

Anonymous said...

How about Hall and Oats?

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't mind seeing some Southern Rock and Roll. I have heard that The Georgia Satellites put on a good show.

Anonymous said...

38 Special July 12 at Artpark free show

Anonymous said...

If you're a Lockport resident going to that show, it is truly "free"! ;)

MJ said...

We enjoy both the urban atmosphere of the Lockport series (plus the walk from the house) and the natural atmosphere of the Artpark series (plus the moto ride out there.) It's nice to have them both in Niagara County.

And Artpark is not truely "free" to Lockport residents. It is a state park so we are paying for it through our state taxes and the parking fees to park on site ;)

Just get out and enjoy what the area offers in the Summer months.

I have been busy lately and not searching to deeply to find leaks of possible concert artists. Usually we do have a couple by now.

Anonymous said...

Guesses so far, I am thinking Pat Travers for June 24 Marshall Tucker Band July 15 and Huey Lewis July 8. They are all within striking distance the next night

Anonymous said...

Just like the Lockport shows aren't 'free' for Lockportians - at an estimated cost lf $150,000 and 21,000 residents it's costing every man/women/child in Lockport around $7!

Anonymous said...

would you like us to take a collection to pay for your 7 bux?

Anonymous said...

The positive publicity impacts propert values and the restaurants are collecting sales tax, as are the gas stations. Hotels are also collecting taxes, the series more than pays for itself, complaining about the cost is sheer ignorance.

Anonymous said...

I am a Canadian and my wife and I go to one concert each year.

If you add up the hotel room, food, beverages, gas and shopping at local retailers - these free concerts cost me about $300. I also know that many other people do the same thing.

But We love Lockport - Money Well Spent!!!

Anonymous said...

Making plans? I think two to three months is plenty of time to make or change plans, especially if you live in Lockport.

As a taxpayer you have the right to request documents about the expense of the series via the FOIL process, but I hardly see where the so called "secrets" hurt anyone.

I kind of get the sense that there is a personal agenda regarding the series and that no matter what happens it will come down the the "I pay taxes" argument.

Well, we pay taxes to preserve the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution for entertainment purposes, is that not money well spent?

Xavier said...

I sure don't want to get into an argument re: the concerts, but I don't see the The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence as being preserved for "entertainment purposes." I'm stuck on the word "entertainment."

Anonymous said...

Let's not forget that the Recreation Department went over budget last year and the Mayor was quoted as saying that was because they had worked the concert series selling items to raise money. He said the amount over was around $20,000. Come to find out the overage was $38,000. So is that more money we the taxpayers should be adding on to the concerts for the price it actually costs us??? No one can still pinpoint the bottom line.

Anonymous said...

It takes money to make money, this obsession with cost does not seem fairly balanced with the benefits.

Anonymous said...

Seems as if the Youth Department has run 10's of thousands of dollars over budget the past three years or so. The Mayor never addresses this HUGE problem yet has no problem giving the people who work there promotions and raises.
The kids who "work" the Concerts are supposed to be picking up and things like that. They wear t shirts announging them as City employees.
All I see is them drinking. Alcohol. They're sure not 21 and I bet they're getting paid for "working." what happens if one of them kills a family on their way home? That scares me. Bad for the kids-bad for the dead family-bad for the City.
I just don't get it.

Anonymous said...

so did the rec dept bring in more money than was spent? if not yes, having the rec department "selling items to raise money" was a waste of cash

and no, this wouldn't qualify under FOIL, only an idiot would think so

do you honestly need an explanation of why we don't know all of the bands yet? if so, put down the beer for once in your life. you'll start understanding life more.

Anonymous said...

I was happy with this site the last 2 years, but this year you haven't done a very good job :( It's the end of March and you still haven't listed any bands on here yet.I'm sure they have signed some bands by now so WTF is taking so long.I would like to make vacation plans to see some of these shows and i don't wanna wait until the last minute.

Anonymous said...

btw- try finding out how much money was brought in from the youth dept by selling items...good luck!

Anonymous said...

I don't think this is the official Canal Concerts site. I think it is for discussion and speculation.
When concert dates are 'leaked' - they get posted.

Anonymous said...

I read Cheap Trick is a rumor, but the only two dates they CAN play is August 12th or August 19th.

Anonymous said...

Just post some bands already!!!!

Anonymous said...

How about letting you bring in lawn chairs to set up around the perimeter of the venue for those of us who can't stand for 3 hours to come and enjoy the show?

If it is a big name act you have to get there early to get a good parking spot, and many of us can't stand for "hours" waiting for the headliner.

Anonymous said...

I think the concerts should consist of some, if not all of these artists....Dave matthews and Tim reynolds, Furthur, Dark star orchestra, Iron and wine, MELANIE(she has a brand new pair of roller skates to roll in on). We need more acoustic shows!!!

Anonymous said...

Blondie would be awesome! As would Pat Benatar (she is amazing live), Tori Amos & Dave Matthews Band (both acts probably still sell for too much but worth a try- Tori is amazing live, too), B-52's, Creed, Heart, Barenaked Ladies

Anonymous said...

- - on march 25th Anonymous guessed Marshall Tucker band for the July 15th show - - and thankfully they have taken a show in Muskegon Mi. on that date. We are very fortunate to have dodged another dinosaur.

Anonymous said...

Train is avail for 8/5/11

Anonymous said...

Almost that time again to travel to lockport and see the city police standing in groups of 4 to 6. Not doing there job. Also very nice watching all the lowlifes diving in the garbage cans. After all the beer cans. Can't wait

MJ said...

You are still traveling for that "experience"?

It's no different in any other series so I fail to see the point. Please stick to the bands.

Xavier said...

Some of the "anonymii" just don't get it, MJ. They never will.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the first OFFICIAL CONCERT THAT I CAN FIND!

08/12/11
Queensryche
Lockport, NY
Molson Canal Concert Series

Source:
http://www.queensryche.com/tour/

MJ said...

Thanks for the find.

I thought they put on agreat show 2 years ago. The issue is that it focused 2/3 on their newest album and Rage for Order which left a lot of casual fans "waiting" for more familiar material. I'm hoping this one will have a healthy dose of Operation Mindcrime material that the last skipped (Most likely since the tour before, it was played in its entirety for the 20th anniversary of its release.)

Being part of their 30th anniversary tour we should get a great mix in the set list.

Xavier said...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8/5 is looking real good for Train, they are in Pittsburgh on the 8/6 and Queensryche is doing Lockport Friday and Pittsburgh Saturday. I am keeping my fingers crossed

Anonymous said...

Queensryche was great 2 years ago!! zztop is playing in the near area this summer. Maybe they can get them to stop and play here! That would be a great concert!!

Anonymous said...

Stop bringing the same bands!!!!! We need variety!! MELANIE SAFKA!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

so if a band brings the biggest turnout over and over again, we should stop having them play in order to get a smaller audience? do you really think some old one hit wonder is going to bring in more people than the highest attended concerts?

Anonymous said...

ok, let me twist the question around, who benefits from a SMALL crowd? isnt the point to get people into lockport? wouldn't a LARGE crowd be the overall goal?

Anonymous said...

I think everyone is missing the point of tourism. These concerts attract people from the surrounding areas and Canada.
We spend money in Lockport too!
If it wasn't for the 'free' concerts - I would never even consider going to Lockport.

Anonymous said...

having local bands is fine and dandy, but you will never see big crowds. how many times do you see local bands playing for free and everyone's just walking past? that may be an ok situation for background music for events, but unless you are talking about terry buckwald, there's only a handful of people going for local bands. and you can see this at any local band free concert in the area.

thanks canadian anon up there, i know the feeling some times when i go to buffalo for a 'free' event. not everyone appreciates you coming down here, but i do.

Anonymous said...

Just read an article in the Lockport paper that says there will be only 1 returning act dating back to the start of the series in NT in 2002.As we already know it will be Queensryche August 12th.That is awesome news that we don't have to see Kansas,Eddie Money,Rusted Root again! NT could never book as big of acts like Lockport can just because of the size of the venue.I live in Lockport and it brings a lot of excitement to the area well worth the money! Great job Mayor Tucker and everyone else involved.

Anonymous said...

Queensryche confirmed on there web site.......................YES............Yes........finally some good news....

Hey everyone this Is an outlet for us to have a voice about the bands that come to the concerts please don't ruin it for of us who use it for that purpose with ur petty nonesense thanks'

Alright, I just tried to clean this up for all the off topic posts. Please read the main blog post. This is for discussing the bands. Please direct financials, "corruption", etc to an appropriate concert series post dealing with such or do not whine when your post gets deleted.

Thank you.

Paul Rodgers (of Bad Company)
Rush
Phish
Goo Goo Dolls (WNY roots)
Blues Traveler

Just a few thoughts thrown out there!!

Any feedback??

One World Tribe July 15 not sure if they are the headliner but they are booked.

Styx is opening up for Yes on July 7 at CMAC, that would route them nicely to Lockport on July 8th

Anonymous said...

Don't Leave out Rusted Root! Their following is huge and since they originate from Pensylvania they are close. They are fantastic and draw a crowd.

not to mention They ROCK! Far better than most of the bands brought in that had their hay day in the 70's and 80's. I dont even think you can find them on the radio anymore, except for the oldies stations now.

Wild Bill said...

To the poster at 12:31 am, I really have no comment other than: hahahaha

To 12:37am, Queensryche is the only one returning as per the article posted further up. They are the only band from the past 2 years coming back this year.

Anonymous said...

Queensryche removed there show for august 12th on there website.I still think they will play hear just wanted to let everyone know.I think Kathy and everyone else who books these bands are telling them not to list the Lockport shows on there websites. That's why were having so much trouble figuring out the lineup this year :( I remember the same thing happened with OLP last year they were on the 103.3 website and a few days later it got removed.

MJ said...

Good point. I am sure that is probably what happened. Some artists seem to follow along, others do not. Last year was unique in that we had the whole line up so early that they officially annouced it 3-4 weeks in advance of the usual date. Will have to start checking daily before they disappear.

Please bring in some acoustic artists. That would be epic. Im gonna say it again, try and get Melanie!!. And to the person that said she was a one hit wonder, look at songs like Candles in the rain, Nickel Song, Brand new key, Look at what they done to my song ma. And thats only a few of the hits you wuss!!

Anonymous said...

if i was in a retirement home or an old stoned hippy some of those songs may matter to me

i just think it is funny that people think that their dream list matters to anyone besides themselves, or is possible anyplace except in their mind

instead of posting band that you have a hard-on for why not just wait until you actually hear something

MJ said...

What is wrong with people passionate about music discussing it in a thread about line up rumours etc? Nothing.

I have no clue who Melanie is, for what it's worth.

I always thought an acoustic set by one of the bands to close out the year would be an interesting way to wind down the season.

@MJ

They are touring all over the world until the 4th of August, so there is a SLIGHT chance they come to the states, but I don't think Lockport is in the cards. If anything, UB or Darien Lake with someone.

does anyone know if Molson has any control over the selection of the Bands that are chosen and play under the name of Molson Canal Concert Series?

...and by the way...is the promoter being paid by Molson for all of the promotional consideration they get from the series? If there is promotional consideration, I'd like to know the $ amount. It could just as easily be the Lockport Canal Concert Series so I hope no one is paying Molson anything to use their name. let me guess....hmmmm

Anyone complaining about this concert series has lost a grip on reality. Do you HONESTLY think ANYONE is coming to Lockport otherwise? I live very close by and the music can be heard inside my house, and I love every minute of it, even if I hate the band, because it means the city is ALIVE. I love the energy in the city when all these people are here.

Tori Amos and Dave Matthews would never happen. This is a free series in Lockport. Not NYC. Let's be realistic. Would be awesome, but no, not going to happen.

I love Rusted Root, and they were my favorite last year, but it's time for some new bands.

Re: local bands, Terry Buchwald is not the only local act drawing bigger crowds, get out and live a little. A lot of local bands, yes, shouldn't have left mom's basement and can barely draw their friends. But there's a lot of talent in this city, you just need to peel back a few layers to find it.

G.I. Joe said...

Thank God we have freedom of speech in this country...other wise those of us that have "lost a grip on reality" but still aren't afraid to expressing our opinion won't be sent to a detention camp run by the "Anonymous" clan.

You've expressed your opinion that's great. Let me have mine without insulting me. I'm mature enough where I don't have to be constantly entertained to enjoy where I live. Concert advocates who can't stand the fact that their are differing opinions need to be more tolerant. I can hear the music where I live too, and I like it too. That doesn't make the economics of the series, or the questions that accompany it go away.

We have a small venue here. If we get "Tier III" acts, we're doing good. Don't set your expectations too high. Those of you that claim to love the concert series and love music so much, should embrace the presence of any band..especially if it's "free".

On March 31 the LSJ (Thom Jennings) spoke and published a bit of a story on the Concerts and spoke with Co-Founder Dave Taylor who said(in parts)

"I have one act that is returning,” Taylor said. “Every other act I have booked now has never played the series before.”

He told me(Thom) that eight of the acts have never played the series since its inception back in North Tonawanda"

Now, if anyone has the means to find out what bands played at NT while the series was there( from what I'm gathering from the comment from Dave Taylor) we MIGHT be able to get a better idea as where to look for particular bands that may play in Lockport this year.

Any sources out there for the respective line ups from NT ??

JUST FOR CLARIFICATION of my post above after re-reading what I posted:

I personally DID NOT SPEAK with Thom Jennings OR Dave Taylor in regards to the concerts.

When I posted "He told me(Thom) that eight of the acts have never played the series since its inception back in North Tonawanda".

"He" was meant to be Dave Taylor.. and "Me" was meant to be Thom Jennings.

I just did a direct Copy/Paste from the Article on the LSJ site.

Sorry if it seemed to confuse people, or if I caused more confusion by this post. But I'm sure you all get the idea. :)

oops...disregard that 2001 that was 2002 I'll keep digging for the '01 lineup

LoneWolf said...

OK lets try that again .. for some reason my post went "poof".

Thom~

Thanks for the Lineup info.

At least now we have a bit of a "starting point" to seach with IF any of the bands posted something to their websites about performing in Lockport, unless its being kept SO "Hush hush", that they can't even publish it.

If we go according to what was published in the LSJ.

Thanks again.

How about the Go-Gos? They are touring and will be in the area...

Anonymous said...

Bad Company and Meat Loaf are getting kicked around as possibilities. Both are in the area. If they had those two it would be amazing!

Anonymous said...

well the Goo Goo Dolls are coming to Darien Lake so we can subtract them from the list of rumors

yes the Goo Goo Dolls July 29 at Darien...

Heard for lockport- dennis d young and puddle of mud.also big name for artpark---- ZZ TOP !!!!

All I know is this concert series is awesome and there shouldn't be any complaints about the past line ups. We get nothing that comes close to this in Rochester. We have to travel to Lockport and Buffalo to get any good summer concerts!

I'm hoping for OLP and Big Sugar again!!

Hey GI Joe, grow a spine. That's half the battle.

would be nice if I knew what you're referring to..?
"Grow a spine..?" did you you think of that all by yourself? Just another anonymous mouth in the crowd....

G.I.Joe said...

oh wait...I bet those are names of two new Canadian progressive rockers...

"Grow a Spine" ( from Toronto)
"That's half the Battle" ( Ft. Erie natives)

Two good suggestions!

Joan Jett would be great!
We had Lita Ford, Joan would be a possibility.

How about Willie Nile!
A local guy who is great in concert.
He did a Wednesday in Artpark last year, fantastic show!

I hope that Free Henry is just opening for a band on 6/24 and is not a headliner that would really suck :(

MJ said...

They list their time as 7pm and are playing local bars around the same dates. 99.9% sure they are an opener.

And did you know that "Free Henry!" really isn't free? ;)

I love the Lockport Canal Series! I think it's great that the city can bring in such a diverse range of acts for free (to me)!! I also think it's great that I can buy cheap alcohol there and wander around with it.
I have no interest in who pays who how much, who decides, etc. I just know that in my city, in Ontario,Canada, nothing happens for free, alcohol is always over-priced ($7 or more a beer), and we have to stay within a small fenced in area to drink.
I love the freedom of the Canal Series! That is why my friends and I come to Lockport for several of the shows.
Concert, drink, do a bit of shopping.
And always, we go to LaPorts for a tasty, good, greasy, breakfast.
I can't wait for the completed line-up!

I just spoke with Mayor Tucker and he confirmed Weird Al Yankovic will be headlining the July 1st show!

Anonymous said...

I hope the mayor was joking. Weird al will have the smallest crowd ever and get booed off stage

Zoltar Speaks
Found one of them old Zoltar fortune telling machines.
Dropped a penny in it and this is what it told me.
Lockport canal concert list
6-24 Frank Sinatra
7-1 Kurt Kobain
7-8 Micheal Jackson
7-15 Janis Joplin
7-22 Bob Denver
7-29 Freddie Mercury
8-5 Bob Marley
8-12 Jerry Garcia
8-19 Frank Zappa

Im so happy to find the real list after so many of you have been unable to solve it
Im going right back to the board walk to see what else Zoltar has to say.
Maybe he can give me insight into the BOE and the Mayoral race.
ZOLTAR knows all.
This must be true Zoltar told me. ;-)

A little humor people lol.
Your welcome in advance.

ZOLTAR RULES!!
Freddy Mercury and Frank Sinatra on the same stage. Too bad they both couldn't appear on the same night!
Thank you SO much for putting our hearts back into our chests. I can't wait for them to begin!!

(Something just hit me - aren't these people dead? lol!)

Long live the Dead and Captain Trips!!! Miss you Jerry. Garcia would be epic if he was still around. How about bringing MELANIE to Lockport? She has a brand new key. MELANIE MELANIE MELANIE MELANIE!!!!!

I sure hope Our Lady Peace will be on the list again this year... waiting patiently to see!

Anonymous said...

Our lady peace is overrated.

OLP is not touring in 2011...and one of the promoters said only 1 band would be a repeat... going back to when the series first started...that would be Queensryche....So olp lover hope for a great band like Nickelback....I know I am...

Anonymous said...

You people on here do not know good music. Nickleback is a bunch of wannabe rockers.

Artpark will be hard to beat. Pat Benetar, Nugent, ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, Skynard, OAR, Thorogood and Frampton. WOW! What is left after that?

MJ said...

Better in NT? Most of the artists were similar.

It will be a great season at Artprk. I'm looking forward to it.

Anonymous said...

In response to whats left after Artpark - everything from the past 30 years.

MJ said...

Funny ;) Frampton, Benetar etc are those bands that seem like they are in the area every third year. But that's the nice part about about having 3 of these in the area, there's usually something for everyone. For those that remain I guess there is the Wilson Boat House?

Anonymous said...

I do'nt think ZZ-Top is coming to artpark....because after the 25th of june they are out of the country according to there web site....and you can probably cross off Train as an act as the are playing the state fair in the Syracuse...which might be to close to Lockport...

Anonymous said...

ZZ Top is doing Tuesday in the Park on 8/2.
