He's doing a good job. If you need ANYTHING, he'll do his best for you. I don't live in his Ward so have had no occasion to interact with his on that basis - but he's taken a lot of personal time to learn how things work in this City and he actually participates in City government which is a heck pf a lot more than what I'd say about the guy who was going to quit after one term and now wants to be the Mayor.

Sounds like he is responsive..and that's good, just wondering if he takes the initiative to go after the tough problems? I don't live in his Ward either, but are there house that look like they're inhabited by "Hoarders"? if the answer is yes..then he needs to get busier....Are you really surprised a "politician" announced that he was only going to serve one term, and discovered there was more work to be done so he/she changed their mind? I don't think anyone would have voted for Mr. Smith on the basis that he was only going to serve "one term"..do you? I see wanting to extend service to the City as a plus, not a minus.

I believe that we can't trust him. This was a major plank in his platform. I haven't heard an explanation of why he's changed his mind and is now running for Mayor. Perhaps an explanation would be helpful.

I don't think I ever heard Alderman Smith say anything about wanting to serve only one term. I do recall at one point Alderman Chapman talking about term limits and Smith said that he also agreed that term limits are a good idea.

Have you ever heard him put forth a proposed amendment, or a change to the City Charter, or a new law, or ANYTHING for that matter?
I don't go to the meetings - maybe twice or three times a year -but I do try to catch them on LCTV. I've NEVER seen him do any of the above - but I may have missed it. He appears to just sit there at the edge of the table/desk and doesn't say a thing. I may be wrong and I invite anyone to tell me so - but other than the housing project I can't recall him doing anything. Occasionally he votes "No." That's all I recall.

I don't see why someone would only say "one term". There's a lot of inertia to change (if that's the goal" and most large changes would take multiple terms.

I could see term limits on state/federal where it's difficult to move people out and seniority creates a system where constituents what to keep there guy in. Otherwise two-year voting cycles for alderman seems a good enough way to limit someone's term.
