While Ulrich was toying with NCCC we were told there were three other interests just waiting for the opportunity to get one of the buildings. After a lot of down time I heard that something could be happening soon. Now the Buffalo News reported that Lockport Cave Tours appears to be continuing to persue the east most buildings:
The city’s development agency is bargaining with Lockport Cave owner Thomas Callahan, who is interested in acquiring a vacant building at the east end of Canal Street...Someone please open a Niagara Wine Trail store before NCCC beats us to it at the old Rainbow Mall. Lockport still continues to miss the opportunity to make itself known as the starting point of the trail. The state highway Wine Trail sign at the Niagara Falls Blvd exit in Amherst shows how irrelevant we have allowed ourselves to remain in regards to the overall wine trail.

Interesting...
Seeing as those buildings aren't acttually "vacant" they have "displays" there ..
Hmmmm...
I'll have to talk to the other "WORKING" owner about this ....and see what he knows.. since he owns +50% (51% to be exact if not a percent or so more) of the cave.. and its' property.. and finacial assestes...so most of this decison would be falling on HIS back side .. NOT Callahans...
Gee, Lonewolf-wd it surprise you to learn that Mr. B is in complete agreement with Callahan?
Know your facts before you throw them out there. It usually works out better - for everyone. Your readers receive correct information and you don't look uninformed.
Where's my comment? I didn't insult anyone or anything? What gives?
I have not deleted anything here. I rarely do anywhere.
Sometimes you need to hit the post button a few times. Make sure it shows up as a comment before leaving. Sorry for the inconvienence.
I'm messing up with my lack of computer skills. Sorry - I'll bet I didn't go through the step where one has to try to make out the word and type it in the box.
My beef with Jeff is his referring to Clancy as the "WORKING" owner, thereby dissing Calahan. I'm well aware of the finances, which I will not share, and note that Callahan does the vast majority of the "WORK." His is a full-time, year 'round job.
Xavier~
When I say "working" what i mean is the fact that the person doiong the LABOR work ....there is much more to keeping the cave running and SAFE for people go have a good time .. other than just ...
well I'll leave it at that .. basically .. to me "working" is being INVOLVED WITH THE STAFF .. getting to know them .. and working with them ..
To Rocket~
TY for the back up....
No I did not say Mr B was not in agreement ..all i was stating was the fact that .. i had seen the article in the paper .. ..matter of fact there is another atricle in yesterdays paper in regards to the buildings..
And the fact w as i was going to find out more ...
Wasn't meant as a "slam" really to any one in particular...
See my post above in regards to who i feel is a "working" owner..

Addendum to Xavier~
Ive been there at the cave for 13 years.. BTW .. and Im proud to admit it ..
Ive had me coversations with Mr C .. (all of maybe once or twice a year) I have had more conversations and working with Mr B in the 13 years ive been there .. so YES i will be a little adamant about the fact of the "working" aspect...
I will NOT deny the fact Mr C has done quite a bit for the cave.. and that is a GOOD THING but my beef is the fact he's hardly ever around ... and trying to get ahold of him .. is well .. diffcult..
While I do understand that he IS a busy person... try speding some time with the staff .. and see what we do .. and what we have done ...
OK im goin into too much ..
Just my thoughts.

Jeff - one last comment -
The City shouldn't be in the real estate business - which they have often said. This is a good thing for our City, especially if the railroad goes through.
I got a little hot at, what I perceived to be, the discourtesy shown Mr. C.. If you had ANY idea of what the guy does I don't think you'd say what you did.
Tom is running constantly to benefit the Caves. I can't keep up with him. Most of his work is not in Lockport - but it's all for the Caves.
Perhaps your perception is based only on the Caves tours. Perhaps you should inquire of Mr. B. as to what Mr. C. has been working on all these years. Fortunately, it appears that it's coming to fruition, which will benefit not only Messrs. B & C, but the entire City of Lockport.
IMO, it's going to be great, for all of us.
